Have you ever finished your makeup then had something ruin the entire look? Have you then had to redo the entire look? We’ll not anymore! We’re sharing some quick fixes which will help salvage your makeup and save you precious time and frustration.
Culprit #1 Rogue Mascara
A common enemy on a bleary-eyed early morning. It’s the worst when you either sneeze after doing your mascara or, you’ve blinked too soon and got it everywhere but where you actually wanted it. You can fix this by letting the mascara dry, and grabbing a damp cotton bud, gently dabbing the mascara that went rogue. Pat dry, then touch up with a little concealer and your makeup is saved!
Culprit #2 The Wrong Foundation Shade
We’ve all experienced buying the wrong foundation shade, and it never fails to be incredibly irritating. The go to foundation shade test is often the back of the hand, but this isn’t the most accurate method. To avoid a bad colour match, blend the shade of foundation down your neck and you’ll know instantly if the shade isn’t right. If the foundation disappears, bingo! That’s the shade for you.
Culprit #3 Too Much Blush
Have you ever applied too much blush/bronzer? If you use a powder blush this can be particularly difficult to fix, as liquid foundation doesn’t sit well on top of powder. To avoid having to remove your foundation and start over, add a powder foundation on top using a large fluffy brush, and this will tone the colour down. If it’s a mistake you find yourself making often, consider switching to a cream blush that can be easily fixed with liquid foundation without packing on layers of drying powder products.
Culprit #4 Misbehaving Lipstick
When applying your lipstick, has it ever looked cakey and too bright? Often this can be due to dry lips – always keep your lips moisturised with a quality balm for the best lipstick finish. For an instant fix, subdue the colour by applying a clear gloss or balm over top the lipstick and then use a tissue and dab on top.
Ever had Lipstick on your teeth? You can avoid this happening entirely by putting your index finger in your mouth, then all the colour will be on your finger. This solves the problem 99.9% of the time.
Culprit #5 Dry Skin
Have you ever looked at your skin part way through the day and noticed it looks dehydrated and dry? It’s particularly common in the winter when artificial heating can dry out our skin before lunchtime. To fix this problem, spritz your face using setting spray as this adds moisture back to the skin, and reawakens your look!
