During the past couple of months self-care has never been more important. I think we are all guilty at some point during lockdown of not feeling ourselves, it’s been very easy to get caught up in your own head and not look after yourself properly. At the start of lockdown, I came across the book Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King which is the perfect educational read to understand the full meaning of self-love and what self-care actually is. Self-care is essentially improving your own wellbeing and happiness. There are many different ways in which this can be done so here are a few beauty self-care tips to make you feel reenergised and radiate positivity.
1. Declutter Your Make-up Kit
Now this may seem like a chore to some people, but having a complete sort through of your make-up kit is very refreshing and will leave you feeling very organised. If you don’t enjoy tidying try tackling it a little at a time or even do something as satisfying as cleaning your make-up brushes, because I can assure you small things like this can make you feel very productive an organised, ultimately resulting in you feeling more relaxed. After all you know what they say, tidy make-up, tidy mind!
2. Take Time to Look After Your Skin
Skincare is an extremely important step in everyone’s daily routine and is one of the highest forms of self-care. Taking one evening out of your week to focus on nothing but relaxing and pampering yourself will truly improve your attitude and mind set for the rest of the week. Try doing your skincare routine, applying a face mask, painting your nails, burning some candles, the lot! Self-care Sundays are the ultimate way to relax and feel good about ourselves, we all deserve this every so often.
3. Treat Yourself to a New Product
During this lockdown period make-up brands have still continued to produce lots of new and amazing products which has made it very difficult to refrain from splurging all of my money! Combining both of these factors I came up with a solution to buy a couple of things at the end of the month as a little treat. It’s a great method to motivate yourself to be as productive as you can throughout that month as well as indulging in something you enjoy and escaping from reality when it arrives. A little treat once in a while never hurt anyone!
I hope you have found some new ways to practise self-love and continue to follow them as lockdown eases further.
