As the world returns to some normality, many of us will find ourselves going back to a routine. Whether you’re going back to work, school or university, it may be hard to get used to the early starts again. I know that when I started back at work I had to re-learn my morning routine and often found myself running late. This blog post will take you through some simple steps to look presentable whilst in a rush!
# 1 Moisturise
Moisturising is a key step in any makeup routine! I do this step every day and it’s a really hassle-free way to feel fresh in the morning. There are many benefits of moisturising, such as relieving dry skin and preventing oiliness. My personal favourite product is the Simple ‘Kind to Skin Replenishing Rich Moisturiser’. The brand tailors towards sensitive skin and contains no damaging or artificial chemicals. Tip: as we’re all wearing masks now, it’s hard to keep your face clean and moisturised! Apply some in the morning and evening to keep your skin feeling fresh and healthy.
When I don’t have the time to do a full face of makeup, I always try to set a few minutes aside to work on my brows! As someone who hopped on the shaved eyebrow tail trend, they do need some work each morning. Brow gel is a good staple to add to your routine; it’s simple, quick and effective! After filling in my brows, I swipe over them with the NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel. The clear formula allows you to add some volume and fluff, without worrying about applying too much!
The last part of my rushed makeup routine is mascara! I find that a light application of any mascara works just fine, but you can apply as little or as much as you like. Wearing a mask all day means that the rest of my face is hidden, so I like to put focus on the areas visible. My preferred high street product is the Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift Mascara. It transforms my lashes in just a few coats and lasts all day long!

Whether you wake up with bed-head or not enough time to shower, hair can be quite tricky to manage in a short amount of time. Coming from someone with a mullet, I understand completely! Up-dos and bobby pins are your friend! Some quick fixes include a high/low bun, simple braids or a pony tail. Finish off with some hairspray if you need that security. Getting your hair out of your face will help with a stress free morning and put you in the right mind set for a productive day.
Throwing on a handful of accessorise is one of my favourite ways to quickly add something fun and presentable to an outfit. It adds a touch of personality and taste to a simple outfit, making others think you spent more time getting ready than you really did! Even if I’m running late, I’ll grab some accessories as I’m running out of the door and throw them on as I’m on my way to work or university.
