Winter Skincare for Damaged, Dull Skin

As the cold autumn and winter months fast approach, dry skin sufferers like myself face the consequences of what the harsh, cold air can do to our skin.

As the cold autumn and winter months fast approach, dry skin sufferers like myself face the consequences of what the harsh, cold air can do to our skin. To help our poor, damaged and dull skin out, I’ve found some really beneficial products and tips to prevent our skin from becoming dull and damaged in the forthcoming months.

First of all, let’s talk cleansing. Making sure to double cleanse is a must in anyone’s skincare routine to ensure all make-up and dirt is lifted from the skin before applying the moisture our skin craves. Oil-based cleansers are very dry skin friendly and one of the easiest ways to remove make-up. There are so many available on the market at moment as these are becoming an increasingly popular way to cleanse your skin. However, if you’re on more of a budget coconut oil works equally as well and is also very safe for sensitive skin due to its natural and hydrating qualities.

SPF is just as important to apply in the winter months than in the summer due to UV rays surrounding us all year round, so to ensure your skin is protected at all times make sure to apply a high SPF all year round. Lots of brands including Glossier and The Body Shop sell great SPF products catered for all skin types to prevent your skin from further damage.

Moisturising is one of the most therapeutic parts of a skincare routine as it really perks up your skin and brings it to life. Using a moisturiser with few ingredients tends to be the best for sensitive and damaged skin, as they don’t include harsh chemicals which is ultimately the best for colder months as they’ll have very high moisturising qualities. If you like thick moisturisers try out aqueous cream as its great for moisturising with only 2 ingredients, not to mention its affordable price tag.

I have personally suffered with acne and acne scaring for many years of my life and a product that has saved my skin is the Superdrug Hydrating Facial Mist. The main ingredient in this product is Vitamin E, which is a known ingredient to help reduce acne scarring. This product is extremely easy to apply as you only need a few sprays to cover the entire face. After this product has settled in, you’re left with an even complexion with the most dewy and radiant skin you only dreamed of having!
